TIMBER INDUSTRY LAUNCHES CORONA CUT CHARITY CHALLENGE

Industry fundraising effort.

Employees from National Timber Group are braving the shave for charity and are encouraging fellow industry professionals to join their fundraising effort.

Richard Jarvis and Peter Howarth have pledged to shave their luscious locks in aid of Cancer Research UK and Timber Trade Benevolent Society (TTBS) in the hope of raising £5,000.

With such an ambitious fundraising target, the pair are asking their peers to join in with the ‘Corona Cut Challenge’, each committing to brave the shave and raise £100.

Richard, Operations Director at the newly formed Engineered Timber Systems division of National Timber Group, said: “Many of this year’s charity events have unfortunately been cancelled. It’s important that we continue to support these fantastic organisations so that they have the resources to carry on their important work.

“After attending many virtual meetings, it’s clear a lot of us are long overdue a trim and have some unspent haircut money that can make a real difference. We’re hoping we can get together a team of 50 volunteers, which would help us meet our goal.”

Peter, New Build Director at National Timber Group, added: “The timber industry has a very friendly and supportive community, which, under regular circumstances, would be raising money via charity dinners and golf days.

“As this isn’t possible at the moment, we’re encouraging as many people as possible to join our challenge. I’m sure our customers, suppliers, and even competitors will hear our calls for help and the response will be impressive.”

TTBS was founded in 1897 and supports aged and retired timber trade members, as well some that are much younger who have fallen ill or lost their partner and require support to care for their children.

National Timber Group is the UK’s largest independent added-value timber group. It includes brands such as Arnold Laver, NYTimber, Rembrand Timber, and Thornbridge Sawmills. The group serves a diverse and varied customer base including joiners, regional housebuilders, commercial companies, and infrastructure projects.
